When I was a young adult, I was actually underweight. I had to drink food supplements in addition to my regular meals trying to put on weight so that I would look healthy.

However, after I started having babies, I didn’t have the problem of being underweight. Actually, I was beginning to have a more healthy weight.  I was still a healthy weight after my third and last child.

But when I reached 40, it was not so easy for me to eat whatever I wanted and still stay slim.  That coupled with the fact that I had started working for a company who always had food with any meeting they had. And they had MANY meetings.  The food was not necessarily healthy food, but seemed to be an obligatory part of the meeting.  Of course, I “couldn’t resist” eating a sample of everything put before me. (We all know that’s a choice and not something we “can’t help”)

After being with this company for a number of years, I had put on at least 40 extra pounds. I knew I needed to do something.

I had observed a lady that I knew who was always the perfect weight, even right after having a baby. I asked her what her secret was. She told me about a local lady, Ann, who held classes in various places around the city teaching people about healthy eating that also caused you to lose weight.

I found Ann in a location convenient to me and started attending her classes. I jumped into the program with both feet. I really stuck with this program and week after week, I always had either lost weight or stayed the same. I never gained a pound during the whole time that I was on the weight loss portion of the program. I lost all 40 extra pounds in 9 months.

Then I went on the maintenance part of the program and that was actually harder. It was harder because now I could eat more things that I couldn’t eat before so it took more will-power to not eat too much of those things. However, I kept my excess weight off for over 5 years.

I hate to admit it, but in the past year, I have not adhered to this healthy weight loss program like I know to do. I’ve had a lot of things going on in my life that have caused me to do what I call “emotional eating”, using food as a reward. This has caused me to add weight back.

I will always know that the program I was on is probably the best program available for losing weight and keeping it off, but I am interested in seeing what else is out there that I can compare to this one. So I am doing a series of reviews of these other products and decided I would make a blog about them.

One day, I may even ask Ann to allow me to make a product of her program and make it available to my followers.  I really would be doing a service to the world if I did this.
